The nepotism debate in Bollywood is back in the spotlight after the untimely demise of Sushant Singh Rajput. In a recent interaction with Mumbai Mirror, ‘Udaan‘ fame Rajat Barmecha opened up about his performance in the film and how star kids or actors from filmy backgrounds were clicked more than him on the red carpet despite having zero projects.

He said everywhere he went, he was being complimented for his performance. It gave him hope. He read every script that came his way, but they were mediocre formulaic films. He couldn’t afford to do a bad film because then he would have been written off as a one-film wonder.

He also revealed how he received praise from stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and others. He further recalled a red carpet incident, where those with no project to their name but coming from a film background were clicked more than him. The producers who praised his work earlier did not recognise him.

Eventually, he started taking up projects, which he wasn’t too keen on, to keep the house running. The actor also revealed that the lockdown has given him the perfect amount of time to finish it up. He stated that one he registers the script, he will share it with Vikramaditya Motwane and other friends.
