The ‘Simmba’ actor was contacted by these migrant workers when cyclone Nisarga was approaching Mumbai and the actor had rescued them, further providing them shelter homes. After arranging their accommodation and basic necessities like hand sanitisers, masks and meal kits, he also arranged a flight which took these 180 migrants home to Assam this morning.
Talking about the same, Sonu exclusively told ETimes, “We wanted to help these Assamese migrants reunite with their families and that’s when we decided to arrange a special flight for them. I was extremely emotional to see their smiling faces as they were excited to experience air travel and eventually meet their families and friends. I’m happy I could be there for them in these trying times when they needed help the most.”
Sonu has been helping migrants to go home under his #GharBhejo initiative. The actor is joined by his friend Neeti Goel who has been equally involved in helping these underprivileged kids and families all across India.
