Taking to their social media handles, the two sent out an earnest request to all to leave their building and society gates open and to help shelter stray dogs, cats and other animals who may be wandering the streets in search of shelter.
“Please don’t shun them away, care for them,” Malaika said while sharing a picture of a dog.
Riddhima, on the other hand, shared a lengthy post that asked Mumbaikars to do their bit and help the animals when the cyclone hits the city. “If the cyclone hits Mumbai, and you see stray animals trying to take shelter in your building complex or private bungalows, please let them in,” the post read.
According to reports, the cyclone is approaching the city at high speeds. It is expected to make landfall later this afternoon.
